Ithemba Decorated lightbubs

DECORATED LIGHTBULBS Ithemba lightbulbs are hand-made in South Africa by women affected by HIV & AIDS . This income generating activity has been providing a steady income to a group of 30 women, who create these bulbs from their home in Cape Town townships. This project, part of Cyrille Varet's fair-design initiative, has reach sustainability thanks to a mediatic event developped in 2003 by Ithemba and Dessine l'Espoir: "La Mode Dessine l'Espoir" ("Fashion designing hope")

More than 60 well-known fashion designers have been asked to draw a personalized lightbulb. Drawings have then been interpreted by Ithemba with the women, prototypes beeing validated by their author... Signed drawings and prototypes have been auctioned to raise money for the association "Dessine l'Espoir". Small series of each light bulb prototype have since then been produced by the women involved in the project, and distributed in an international network of shops and department stores, with a donation of 5 euros included in the price of each bulb for the association. This contribution has been essential for the developpement of Dessine l'Espoir's campaigns and supportive actions in Africa.

Steel curtain rods and rod stands

ROD STANDS

The rod stands range is composed of 2 different models:
Totem is composed of a square plate, a 13cm long square rod and a ring, holding the thin curtain rods (22mm diameter).
KetyFix and OrpheaFix are two curvy stands, matching the thicker curtain rods (32mm diameter)

RODS

Rods are available in two thicknesses, as described above, 22 or 32 mm, depending on the rod holders chosen.
When giving us the Rod length, you must take into account that extremity caps will add between 1 and 10 cm on both sides (See details bellow)

ROD CAPS

Rods are ended up with two removable caps on both sides.
3 models of caps are available:

-Square Galet is available in two sizes 50x50mm (For thin rods) or 35x35mm (for thick rods). it is a square suhape with soften angles.
Square Galet is 1cm thick, so you must take into account an additional 2cm for your rod with Square Galet caps.

-Steel Boule is available only for the thin rods (22mm). it consists in a 2,5 cm steel bowl welded on each side so you must take into account an additional 6 cm for your rod with Steel Boule caps.

-Steel Volute is a curved decoration available only for teh thick rods (32mm).
Steel Volute is 10cm large, so you must take into account an additional 20cm for your rod with Steel Volute caps.

Caps are removable on both sides of the rod, so one can fix the rings easily on the rods (see sketch bellow).

You can organize the pricing per window as follow:

- Rods hoder prices are indicated per unit (count 2 per window).
- Rods caps prices are indicated per unit (count 2 per window).
- Price of the rod is indicated per meter. You must enter the exact size of the rod without the removable ends size (enter 1,2 for a 120cm rod).
